As you may be aware, on October 14th 2025, Microsoft is discontinuing all updates and security patches for Windows 10.

What to know:

1)  The upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 is free … IF the computer in question meets the minimum hardware requirements to run it.

2)  This upgrade will come down and be installed on applicable machines automatically in the weeks to come and happens with the normal Windows Updates.

3)  Any computers that do not meet the hardware requirements for Windows 11 will have to be replaced.

4)  Each of our clients will be receiving a list of machines (if any) that will need replacement prior to, or within 30 days, of the Windows 10 end of support deadline mentioned above.

Here is a more detailed explanation:

  • No more free updates:

After October 14, 2025, your Windows 10 PC will not receive free software updates, which means you will not get security patches or other important updates that keep your system running smoothly.

  • No more technical assistance:

Microsoft will no longer provide technical support or help troubleshoot issues with your Windows 10 PC.

  • Vulnerability to security risks:

Without security updates, your Windows 10 PC becomes more vulnerable to malware, viruses, and other security threats.

  • Potential for compatibility issues:

As new software and hardware are developed, they may not be compatible with older versions of Windows 10, potentially leading to compatibility issues.

  • Recommendation to upgrade:

Microsoft strongly recommends upgrading to Windows 11 before the October 14, 2025 deadline to continue receiving updates and support.

For consumers who are unable to upgrade, Microsoft is offering an ESU program to provide security updates for at least one year after the end-of-support date. Exact terms and pricing for the ESU program will be announced closer to October 2025,
