The End of the Line is Approaching for Windows 10

The end of the line is approaching for Windows 10, at least in terms of security support. Windows 10 will officially stop receiving support from Microsoft on October 14, 2025. This means that after that date, the operating system will no longer get security updates, bug fixes, or technical support from Microsoft, which could potentially leave your system vulnerable to security risks.

Here’s what will happen:

  1. Security updates: Windows 10 will no longer get patches or updates to address vulnerabilities or bugs. If new security flaws are discovered after that date, they won’t be fixed for Windows 10 users.
  2. Technical support: Microsoft will stop providing direct assistance through customer support or troubleshooting help for Windows 10 issues.
  3. Feature updates: Microsoft won’t release any new features or improvements for Windows 10 after this date, which means the OS will remain static.

After support stops, using a Windows 10 PC will be kind of like using a Windows 7 PC today. Your PC will still work and you’ll be able to keep doing what you normally do, but it will grow increasingly vulnerable as more security issues are found but not fixed. Microsoft strongly encourages users to upgrade to Windows 11 or a newer version of the operating system as soon as possible. If you’re currently using Windows 10, it’s a good idea to start preparing for an upgrade to avoid running an unsupported OS after 2025.
